The EEC GSM 5 is a compact 2 in 1 survey meter and dosimeter designed for measuring gamma radiation and X rays. Its pocket size and lightweight construction make it suitable for radiation protection, industrial inspection, radiography, nuclear power applications and civil or defence environments.
The instrument uses an internally mounted energy compensated Geiger Müller tube and detects radiation across an energy range from 48 keV to 3 MeV. The GSM 5 measures dose rate from 0.05 mR/h to 5000 mR/h and accumulated dose from 0.01 mR to 9999 mR, with dose rate linearity of ±15% using Co60.
A 4 digit segment LCD provides clear measurement readings, while configurable audible, visual and vibration alarms can be set throughout the operating range. The built in vibration alarm is especially useful in noisy environments where an audible warning may be difficult to hear.
The GSM 5 also provides diagnostic indications for overload, over range, detector failure and high voltage failure. Accumulated dose is stored in the instrument, allowing the device to operate as both a portable survey meter and a personal dose monitoring tool.
Designed for extended field use, the meter offers up to 1500 hours of operation from three AAA batteries. Its ABS plastic housing weighs only 110 g including batteries and measures 69 x 19.5 x 115 mm, making it easy to carry during inspections and routine radiation monitoring.
