Premium weather-resistant film tape with Tedlar® PVF backing for outdoor sealing and protection applications. Features acrylic adhesive, excellent weathering resistance, and temperature range -100°F to 225°F.
3M™ Weather Resistant Film Tape 838 is a premium industrial-grade adhesive tape designed for long-term outdoor and weather-resistant applications. This white tape features a 2.1 mil Tedlar® PVF Film backing that provides exceptional strength without adding thickness, making it ideal for sealing, wrapping, and protecting in challenging outdoor environments. The tape measures 2 inches in width, 36 yards in length, with an overall thickness of 3.4 mil, and comes in a convenient 24 roll per case packaging.
The tape is engineered with a high-shear strength acrylic adhesive that provides immediate adhesion upon contact to a wide variety of substrates. Once bonded, this adhesive maintains secure adhesion for extended periods, even under significant climate and temperature variations. The acrylic adhesive is resistant to many solvents including jet engine fuel, hydraulic fluid, and lubricating oils, making it an excellent choice for aerospace, military, and industrial applications where solvent resistance is critical.
With excellent resistance to weathering and outstanding mechanical properties, this tape is ideal for building and construction, aerospace, signage, military, and window and door industries. The tape performs reliably across a broad temperature range from -100°F (-73°C) to 225°F (107°C) and contains no plasticizers, contributing to superior long-term aging properties. It meets ASTM D3330, ASTM D3652, and ASTM D3759 specifications and has an 18-month shelf life from the date of manufacture.
