3M™ Polyurethane Protective Tape 8663DL is a premium erosion protection tape specifically designed for aircraft leading edges such as vertical stabilizers. This transparent 18 mil polyurethane elastomer tape provides superior protection against rain and sand erosion while maintaining excellent environmental resistance properties. The tape features a tough thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer backing that is abrasion, scratch, erosion, tear and puncture resistant, making it ideal for demanding aerospace applications.
The tape is constructed with a long-aging, solvent-resistant, pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive that bonds effectively to a wide variety of substrates and retains bond strength over time while removing easily when needed. The innovative dual liner system includes a bottom 3 mil polyethylene liner that protects the adhesive from contamination prior to application, and a top liner imprinted with black lines at four inch intervals to aid in precise installation. The transparent design allows the tape to be painted or applied over painted surfaces, providing flexibility in aerospace maintenance and installation procedures.
