3M™ Polyester Protective Tape 336 is a thin, transparent polyester film tape specifically designed to protect finished surfaces from light abrasion, nicks, scratches, and damage during production, packing, shipping, and installation. The tape features a low tack rubber adhesive that adheres to a wide variety of surfaces including polished metal, stainless steel, aluminum, and plastic surfaces with minimal adhesion build-up and clean removal without leaving sticky residue. The transparent backing provides excellent visibility through the tape to the protected area, enabling easy application and monitoring of the protected surface.
This protective tape offers exceptional performance characteristics including excellent abrasion, tear, scratch, puncture, and moisture resistance. The extensible and abrasion-resistant polyester backing is ideal for forming operations and provides superior durability. The tape can withstand extended exposure to temperatures up to 150°F (66°C) for prolonged periods and short-term exposure up to 250°F (121°C) for 30 minutes or less, making it suitable for various industrial applications.
The product comes in a convenient roll format with dimensions of 11.8 inches (298.5 mm) width and 144 yards (131.7 meters) length, packaged as 1 roll per case. Commonly used applications include protection during plating processes on printed wiring boards, protection of polished stainless steel and aluminum in fabrication and shipping, protection of nameplates and instrument panels during installation, and protection of finished non-metallic surfaces. This industrial-grade tape is designed for occupational use only and is not intended for consumer sale or use.
