3M™ Lead Foil Tape 421 is a highly conformable, electrically and thermally conductive tape designed for demanding industrial applications. This dark silver lead foil backed tape features a distinct green rubber adhesive that provides excellent initial grab and long-lasting bond that removes cleanly from most surfaces. The malleable tape resists flame, moisture, weather, UV degradation, chemicals, and radiation, making it ideal for complex masking applications, radiation barriers, and electroplating processes.
The tape's exceptional conformability allows it to be formed into detailed and intricate shapes and patterns or die-cut into specific shapes to meet assembly and manufacturing process needs. The lead foil backing can be burnished to fully cover the adhesive and allow complete metal-to-metal contact with the base surface, resulting in continuation of the electrical path and reduced build-up at the adhesive interface. This feature makes it particularly effective for applications requiring reliable electrical conductivity and thermal management.
With a maximum operating temperature of 225°F (107°C) and minimum operating temperature of -60°F (-51°C), this tape performs reliably across a wide variety of temperature conditions. The 6.3 mil total thickness provides durability while maintaining flexibility, and the 18-month shelf life ensures product reliability.
