This highly conformable tape features a dark silver lead foil backing coated with a distinct green rubber adhesive that offers excellent initial grab and long-lasting bonding. The tape resists flame, moisture, weather, UV degradation, and many chemicals commonly used in electroplating and anodizing processes, making it ideal for specialized industrial masking and protective applications.
The malleable construction of this lead foil tape allows it to be shaped into complex or detailed patterns and die-cut into specific shapes to meet assembly and manufacturing process requirements. With a total thickness of 6.8 mil and a 23-inch width, the tape provides optimal coverage for large-scale industrial applications. The lead foil backing can be burnished to fully cover the adhesive and establish metal-to-metal contact with the base surface, resulting in continuation of the electrical path and reducing build-up at the adhesive interface. This characteristic makes it exceptionally valuable for radiation barrier applications and chemical milling operations.
The rubber-based adhesive bonds exceptionally well to a variety of surfaces, including most metals, while performing reliably over a wide temperature range from -60°F to 225°F. Each roll contains 36 yards of tape on a plastic core and comes as a single roll per case. This industrial-grade product meets ASTM D3652, ASTM D3759, and ASTM D3833 specifications and is formulated to provide strong acid and base resistance, making it the preferred choice for electroplating, anodizing, and radiation shielding applications.
