3M™ Lead Foil Tape 420 is a premium electrically and thermally conductive tape designed for demanding industrial applications. This highly conformable dark silver tape features a lead foil backing with a distinctive green rubber adhesive that provides excellent initial grab and long-lasting bonds. The tape resists flame, moisture, weather, UV degradation, and many chemicals commonly used in electroplating and anodizing processes, making it ideal for harsh industrial environments.
The malleable construction allows the tape to be shaped into complex or detailed patterns and die-cut into specific shapes to meet precise assembly and manufacturing process requirements. The lead foil backing can be burnished to fully cover the adhesive, enabling metal-to-metal contact with the base surface. This direct contact results in a continuation of the electrical path, reducing build-up at the adhesive interface and ensuring superior electrical conductivity. The rubber-based adhesive bonds exceptionally well to a variety of surfaces, including most metals, while maintaining performance over a wide temperature range from -60°F to 225°F.
With an easy-release film liner and exceptional pliability, this lead foil tape is formulated to be both electrically and thermally conductive while carrying strong acid and base resistance. Each roll measures 19 inches wide by 36 yards long with a total thickness of 6.8 mil, meeting ASTM D3652, ASTM D3759, and ASTM D3833 specifications.
