This highly conformable tape features a dark gray lead foil backing coated with a distinctive green rubber adhesive that provides excellent initial grab and long-lasting bond performance. The tape resists flame, moisture, weather, UV degradation, and many chemicals used in electroplating and anodizing processes, making it ideal for specialized masking and protection applications.
The rubber-based adhesive bonds exceptionally well to a variety of surfaces, including most metals, with performance maintained over a wide temperature range from -60°F to 225°F. This malleable tape can be shaped into complex or detailed patterns and die-cut into specific shapes to meet precise assembly and manufacturing process requirements. The lead foil backing can be burnished to fully cover the adhesive and allow full contact of the lead foil to the metal base, resulting in a continuation of the electrical path and reducing build-up at the adhesive interface.
With an easy-release film liner, 3M Lead Foil Tape 420 is formulated to be electrically and thermally conductive with strong acid and base resistance. Each roll measures 12 inches wide by 36 yards long with a total thickness of 6.8 mils, providing substantial coverage for industrial applications.
